Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the response we've been receiving since Monday's VIP dress rehearsal. It is infinitely rewarding to again be able to perform these songs with the passion we all know they deserve. I'd love to write more, but we're in Austin, TX for SXSW. We'll speak soon...

Thank you very much Chad, from all of us fellow Freaks. I was lucky enough to join you guys Monday night in York, PA and was part of the legion of Freaks right up front. It was great to finally hear the songs that I love so much and I know you guys love playing with the passion they so richly deserve. I've been following +LIVE+ since 1991 and my first show was in 1992 at the age of 13, yes I was somehow able to convince security it was okay for a 13 year-old to be in a club :) Since then I have been to what I can count to be nearly 100 shows. Thank you again for all you have done and will continue to do for the fans.

Thanks Taylor. When I first heard that Live were on hiatus, I thought things maybe rotten in the state of Denmark. But when I heard you guys were going to kick it off again with a new vocalist, I breathed a sigh of relief. Can't wait for the Tour Down Under, and looking forward to a new album. Welcome back, we've missed you!

I've been listening to the new old songs with Chris on vocals. Damn! He's doing a gret job!!! It totally feels like comming back to home, and then you notice that some improvements have been done.
So glad that you decided to continue in this journey. I'll be more than please to once again, walk the line with you guys.

Could you please tell us something of your experience recording Throwing Copper at Pachyderm Studio; there is nothing at all about it on the internet, and I'd imagine that there are some interesting stories from that storied place....
Ed becomes a Christian, now
the front man is a chrisshin. Sorry, pun was intended heavily. As a
musician I modeled my own talents around the chemistry of success which
was LIVE. Take Elvis, Led Zeppelin, U2, and R.E.M. mix it together and
put some bar-b-q sauce on it and that is what made Live so enticing to
the ear. Sure Elvis could hit the big high notes, but he was loved for
his rich tenor/baritone voice. Chris has what I consider a Falsetto
baritone. If his baritone was a french fry you would need to add a ton
of salt and cover it in catchup to have any taste. If his voice was
cheese it would be sharp cheddar. Now for my real attack. Chris needs to
give the Mohawk jean look back to Chad T. It worked for Taylor, but
Shin makes the band look plain silly and pathetic. After writing this I
am craving some fast food. Do they still serve pink slime in the Happy
LIVE meal? Oh wait, I think they replaced the pink slime with Xanax. For
the Note, I am not a FAN any longer and by the way, Freaks was your
worst song. Are you implying that LIVE fans sleep with their mothers? I'm confused!

It's disappointing that you all could not work things out with Ed. It must have been something really ugly to not be able to work together again. Bummer...at least Aerosmith was able to prevent the Journey karaoke pandemic.
Nonetheless, Chad, you are a very soulful guitar player and I enjoyed your new venture with The Gracious Few...I was just hoping you would pursue that project more or bring Ed back to Live. BTW - Freaks is a great song, one of my favorites. I don't care what other readers think about that song!
Met you guys with Ed in Chicago one night after the most incredible, inspiring show yet. Glad I was there...you guys were amazing. Or another night in Milwaukee, WI - when you opened with "Where Fishes go"...wow...some of my best concert experiences were attending LIVE concerts.

Why CCP couldn't work things out with Ed, was because Ed wanted to go through with his solo career. It's not the fault of Chad, Chad and Patrick. Live is not about Ed, it's about 4 great musicians. Chris is a very talented singer. I don't know where timothy talks about, but i think he's too confused too talk. He still thinks Ed is a part of Live. The truth is that Ed is no longer a part of Live. CCP made a good choice to replace Ed with the powerfull voice of Mr. Chris Shinn. Chris, i wish you the very best. All the FREAKS accept you as the new lead singer and we're all sure you will bring great music to us with your awesome bandmates Chad, Chad and Patrick.
I have been a fan of live for 20 years. Let me first say Im so glad they are getting back together with a new lead singer......ed is a great talent, but clearly not a loyaql friend.......this has nothing to do with his solo career ( by the way I saw ed last year and his voice is terrible and solo stuff sucks ) . This is about ed privately stealing from his friends .....I need not go into detail
This new guy Chris has a better voice............chad, chad, and patrick havnt lost a thing...........its a great move........I havnt heard you guys play dam at otter creek since i was in high school ( 31 now ) ...it sounded great..........this is a great move........and I gurantee when you guys on tour as live you will get 3 times the crowds ed gets on his solo tours.....

Live IMHO is the greatest band to ever exist. I am greatly disappointed in what Ed did to the rest of them, but at the same time they can't exist without each other. I can't listen to Ed or TGF on their own. I can't ever enjoy music from these individuals again. Ed, Chad, Chad and Patrick, you are amazing, AMAZING artists, and I hope you understand why I can't follow you any longer. As many times as I've listened to all of your albums, they're all I have left. Ed, you're freaking amazing, but man up and make things right. And the rest of you guys, hear him out when he does come around. I'd love to win the lottery, or find true love, but I wouldn't need much more if Live got back together.

LIVE doesn't need Ed. We have Chris. Chris is amazing. At the moment he is a better singer than Ed now. We don't need Ed. get over it. A brand new LIVE era has just begun. Chris won't dissapoint us.
+LIVE+ has made great music. Ed not being in the band doesn't mean they can't make great music again hell look at there last few records for a perfect example. Truth being inspiration from something more than oneself combined with talent is what makes great records and why all the pieces came together in there early records. Now can they make a great record yes only if they contact all those little things to make it happen. Does the new singer have the same depth that ed used to have? nope but not many people have that depth and richness BUT can they make a new record that kicks ass and has the same spirit or feel as the old +LIVE+ yes they can and i hope they do. I just wish they wouldn't have posted the old songs with putting the new singers voice on them cuz its simply not as good and serves no purpose. Chris will sound great singing the new stuff live and he is talented and I'm willing to bet there new record will kill songs from black mountain. GO GET GET EM GUYS!
I agree with most of what you say here in that LIVE can and will make new material that kicks ass and Chris will sound great with the new stuff. I disagree with what you say about Chris singing the old stuff, though. He sounds great singing the old songs especially "All Over You" and "I Alone". I'll say I like the original "Lightning Crashes" with Ed, but otherwise Chris sounds awesome. And I think re-recording those songs does serve a purpose. It introduces the freaks to the new singer, shows that he fits right in with the sound of LIVE, and shows that even though Ed is no longer with the band, the spirit of LIVE is alive and well...
i agree that i alone in the loud parts sounds great and all over you sounds as close as you can get but my point being was if you just heard him live singing the old stuff it would sound dead on and amazing and by taking the old recordings that are already set in ones mind how it should sound would turn away some people who would otherwise not have been turned away. Of course you could say "fuck those people" but to each is own. I just though it was an error in strategy. Don't get me wrong I'm excited they are making new music and yes chris is very good and will sound great on the new material. When i heard it though it just really bothered me and i know for the purist out there it annoyed them as well. Its like taking picasso's blue period and remaking them exactly in a different color. Either way doesn't matter +LIVE+ is up and running and that is a great thing!
An old friend was doing tech stuff for Unified Theory, The Rising etc and turned me onto unified Theory about Ten years ago. This is going to be an amazing breath of Fresh air! I am pretty amped over this whole trip! WOW!!!!
